Art Positions
- Lead Artist -
Demiurge Studios is searching for a talented lead artist with the experience, skills and drive to turn our projects into works of art. Our ideal candidate will have the ability to define project style, as well as the expertise to execute on an artistic vision. Prior experience leading teams of artists and reviewing artwork is required. If you can inspire our team with amazing art and game production technique, we've got a job for you.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead internal artists
- Critique own and others' work constructively and raise our internal artistic bar
- Define art pipelines, standards for internal projects
- Share and encourage knowledge distribution for art techniques and tools
Qualifications:
- Experience leading art teams
- Excellent personal, written and oral communication skills
- Skilled with industry tools: Photoshop, 3D Studio Max, Maya
- Experience mentoring and developing junior artists
- Strong sense of color/lighting/composition
- Portfolio or demo reel that demonstrates breadth of skill, styles, genres
- Traditional concept art skills
- 3+ years game industry employment
Preference to applicants with:

Production Positions
- Executive Producer -
Demiurge is seeking a talented, experienced, and charismatic Executive Producer to lead a large-scale project from its inception to the finish line. Demiurge has worked on AAA titles like Mass Effect, BioShock, and Brothers in Arms and we're currently developing a new cross-platform title. We're a growing, independent, employee-owned studio that places high value on its people.
As a growing studio we're looking for an experienced Executive Producer who has guided AAA games and huge franchises to the store shelves. Our ideal candidate will not just have knowledge and experience, but the personality to energize and inspire our team to create the greatest game they can. Ultimately, you will be responsible for ensuring that the development process is an enjoyable, rewarding experience for our valued employees.
Responsibilities:
- Help define a vision for our next title, and inspire the team to make it real
- Lead a team of stellar developers through an enjoyable, rewarding development experience
- Make hard decisions about what's critical to a game's success and what is not
- Oversee the creation of accurate staffing plans, budgets, schedules and milestone definitions
- Improve existing production processes and invent new ways of making great games
- Lead, manage, and grow a team of producers who oversee each of the projects in development
- Extend and drive the strategic plans for ongoing development of our intellectual properties
- Interface with clients, publishers, and external resources to ensure a smooth development process for all involved
Qualifications:
- Must have shipped at least 1 title in the current console generation as Project Lead or Executive Producer
- Must have shipped at least 3 titles in a Production role
- Must have an understanding of the current console generation climate and marketing strategies
- Must have experience in leading, managing, and growing a team
- Must have experience creating staffing plans, budgets, schedules and milestone definitions
- Must have an understanding of current industry production methodologies

Engineering Positions
- Physics/Animation Engineer -
Come make games in Boston! We're growing our studio and would love to add another engineer to the Demiurge family.
Demiurge has worked on AAA titles like Mass Effect, BioShock, and Brothers in Arms and we're currently developing a cross-platform engine for our own title. We're a growing, independent, employee-owned studio that places high value on its people. Qualifications:
- Implemented physics or animation simulation systems for a game engine
- Integrated a 3rd party physics or animation SDKs into a game engine
- Previous experience authoring animation state machines, collision detection systems, or player movement solutions
- Strong math skills in linear algebra, trigonometry, and matrix/quaternion math
- Strong C++ programming and architecture skills
- Experience developing for the PC and current generation consoles (Xbox 360, PS3 and/or Wii)
- Demonstrated knowledge of good software engineering practices
- Reliable scheduling and management ability
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- BS (or higher) in Physics, Math, Computer Science or similar discipline

- Senior Engineer -
We’re looking for outstanding senior engineers in a range of specialty areas including gameplay, physics, animation, tools, graphics, and networking. As a Senior Engineer you will collaborate with artists and designers to deliver exciting, innovative games.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with art and design to understand and define game features and system requirements.
- Author and publish technical design documents for the team which specify what will be developed and how.
- Champion feature development and if necessary, guide the efforts of designers and artists.
- Provide time estimates and development plans for feature development.
- Implement, test, debug and maintain source code.
- Track your development progress and keep production management well-informed.
- Think creatively and work proactively to solve any blocking issues for yourself and your teammates.
- Deliver high quality, functional systems on time and to specification.
- Review the work of other engineers and provide constructive guidance in a highly collaborative environment.
- Keep abreast of technological advances in the game industry and within your field(s) of specialty.
- Give lunchtime presentations about new technologies or innovative solutions you've implemented on your project.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 4+ years game industry experience
- Engineering credits on 2 or more shipped titles for 360 or PS3 consoles
- Membership on at least one project team from concept through ship
- Expert C++ programming and software architecture skills
- An understanding of the 360 and PS3 architectures and their constraints
- BS or higher in Computer Science or similar discipline (EE, Math, Physics, etc.)
- Expert developer of at least one of these systems: Physics, Animation, Graphics, Networking, Gameplay, AI, UI, Audio
- Experience optimizing source code and game data for size and performance
- A strong background in 3D math, trigonometry and linear algebra
- Programmed systems for a multithreaded and multiprocessor engine
- Able to dive into large codebases, debug problems, and implement minimally invasive solutions
- Successfully authored and supported tools for designers & artists
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong knowledge of good software engineering practices
- Developed an online multiplayer title
- Possesses a clear understanding of network architectures and protocol design
- Has a passion for games and plays them regularly
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Has outside interests!
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Previously developed games using the Unreal Engine
- Able to program using Python, Perl, LUA or other scripting languages
- Programmed plugins for 3D Studio Max using the SDK and authored Max scripts
- Shipped a title for the Wii
- Designed and implemented animation solutions - animation trees, state machines, IK, ragdoll
- Developed UI for a game using Scaleform and Action Script
- Integrated and used a third party physics SDK like Havok or PhysX
- Integrated and used a third party audio SDK like FMOD or Miles
- Experience setting up automated build systems using FinalBuilder, CruiseControl and Python
- Experience coding core engine systems (memory management, event handlers, I/O, etc.)
- Comfortable working in PC, Linux and Cygwin environments
- Experience developing games using agile methodologies
- Task tracking & collaboration in Jira, Confluence, TWiki, Bugzilla, DevTrack, Crucible or similar environments
- Authored programs in C#
- Experience architecting or building upon existing game content pipelines
- Authored and optimized code to run on the PS3's SPUs, PPU and RSX
- Experience authoring character AI, path finding solutions, and other gameplay systems

- Senior Level Designer -
Are you a visionary level designer with an uncanny ability to craft genre-defining play spaces? Are you looking for a team that shares your passion for innovation, collaboration and quality? Demiurge Studios is looking for experienced level design talent to join our growing team. The right candidate has a firm grasp of what makes a level fun and immersive, the artistic instincts to make it visually compelling, and the technical chops to make it real.

Qualifications:
- 3+ years professional experience with 2+ shipped titles in a level design capacity
